Ministry of Agriculture offered to bring migrants to Russia on chartered trains

Russian Railways said they were awaiting requests from producers of vegetables, fruits and berries.

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture, together with Russian Railways, has discussed the launch of a charter train project that will be able to transport migrants to the Russian Federation whose local agro-industrial complex has need.

According to Kommersant, the meeting took place last week. An insider from the department said that manufacturers and representatives of the regions had taken part in the discussion, the department launched their submission of collective requests for the organization of such flights of the Russian Railways.

The question arose in March of this year, when foreign labor could only arrive in the Russian Federation by air. And that drastically increased the costs of manufacturers.

Market representatives said that an average theft costs them 80,000 rubles. The Transport Ministry said a charter train journey would cost 12,000.

Russian Railways also clarified that these flights have been approved by the operational headquarters for the fight against the coronavirus , but the manufacturers have not received any inquiries for them so far.

Among the potential customers, the media cites farmers, companies producing fruits and vegetables, but now the same berry production is stagnating, because the area of the plantations had to be reduced precisely because of the lack of manpower.

Previously, as Topnews wrote, the Interior Ministry had demanded that the CIS take 1 million illegal migrants from Russia.

The deadline set by the department was June 15th.
