Media: Kazakhstan has started to detain Russian trucks carrying goods from the EU

“Izvestiya” has discovered details of the detention of 8 highways to Russia by Astana .

The media has learned that heavy trucks transporting goods from EU countries to Russia are detained in Kazakhstan.

According to Izvestia, about eight road trains are already detained in the country neighbor for an indefinite period.

The media, citing the Association of International Road Carriers, reports that to date the number of cases has not reached ten, but the reasons for their retention are not given.

The vehicles are located in car parks reserved for traffic law violators, where storage is expensive. In addition, road trains are delayed at local customs terminals. A number of them, as ASMAP points out, were simply stopped on the road.

At the same time, the drivers' documents were confiscated, and they therefore cannot leave Kazakhstan.

“News” specify that all road trains delivered goods to Russia from Europe, via Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation noted that the country's authorities impose on Russian requirements that cannot be recognized as legal.

< p>According to the department, Astana requires drivers to provide documentation for goods that were not issued to Russian carriers, but to their predecessors – European companies that have transported goods across the EU to Belarus or the Russian Federation. However, the problem is that the companies do not transfer the documents to each other.

The illegality, according to the Ministry of Transport, lies in the fact that the new Kazakhstan rule itself violates the 39; International Road Transport Agreement . The agency demands to release the drivers, return their documents and not impose fines.

Due to the current situation, ASMAP recommends that Russian carriers refrain from transiting for a while.
